Active substance: Sodium Hyaluronate (10 mg per mL = 1% w/v) 

Dosage form: Clear visco-elastic sterile solution for intra-articular injection. 

Strength: 1% w/v, equivalent to 10 mg/mL. 

Typical pack size / presentation: Pre-filled syringes (e.g., 2 mL volume, containing 20 mg) in sterile blister packs. 

Route of administration: Intra-articular (into the joint space) for treatment of osteoarthritis or joint degeneration. 

Relief of pain and improvement of joint mobility in patients with symptomatic osteoarthritis of the knee (and in some local markets, other large synovial joints) who have not responded adequately to non-pharmacologic therapy and simple analgesics. 

The product acts as a “viscosupplement” — it restores viscoelasticity of the synovial fluid (which is reduced in osteoarthritis) thus helping lubrication, shock-absorption and joint mechanics. 

1 mL contains: Sodium Hyaluronate EP (10.00 mg) for 1% w/v version. 

Excipients typically include sodium chloride, phosphate buffers (e.g., disodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate) and water for injections. 

Molecular weight of the sodium hyaluronate used is often in the multi-million dalton range (e.g., ~2.8-3.2 million Da) to provide the viscoelastic properties.
